The Master
Vincent van Gogh
He sold a single painting in his lifetime and died unknown; today his canvases command hundreds of crores. Van Gogh painted with the whole of his being — swirling skies, blazing sunflowers and almond blossom as prayers of hope.
“No artist has done more to define the popular image of the tortured genius — nor to prove that a life the world called a failure can become its most beloved.”
The Life
Born in the Dutch village of Groot-Zundert, Van Gogh came to painting late and burned through it in barely a decade — producing some 900 paintings and 1,100 drawings between bouts of illness in Arles and Saint-Rémy. He shot himself at thirty-seven, believing he had failed.
The Hand
His signature is the visible, loaded brushstroke — thick ridges of pure colour (impasto) laid in swirling, rhythmic directions that make the sky and cypress seem to move. He built emotion out of complementary colour: blue against orange, green against red.
The Legacy
No artist has done more to define the popular image of the tortured genius — nor to prove that a life the world called a failure can become its most beloved.
The Market
Van Gogh sold exactly one painting in his lifetime — The Red Vineyard, for 400 francs. Today his works rank among the most valuable ever auctioned, several exceeding US$80–100 million.

Commission a Vincent van Gogh masterwork.
Museum-grade Vincent van Gogh reproductions, made to order. ArtzFolio ∞ Infinity recreates the masterworks of Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890), the Dutch master of Post-Impressionism, on archival, hand-finished canvas — numbered as strictly limited Heirloom editions and built to be inherited. His signature is the visible, loaded brushstroke — thick ridges of pure colour (impasto) laid in swirling, rhythmic directions that make the sky and cypress seem to move. He built emotion out of complementary colour: blue against orange, green against red. Every commission reproduces that surface faithfully, at the size, frame and finish of your choosing, and ships across India with white-glove care.
